- Description

Copper alloy flat axe; with a thin, narrow, rounded butt. Sides are roughly parallel to each other in upper half, then swing out gently in lower half to form a rounded cutting-edge. Decorated on both faces on the lower half with large horizontal herringbone pattern; both sides are decorated with lozenge pattern. The entire object is covered with brown patina.

Hoard; found with one other axe of the same type (possibly 1843,1226.3) four feet under bog, under detritus gravel, one mile south of Fivemiletown.
Date: Frankford-Killaha-Ballyvalley period.
