- The ornaments were kept in the Americas collection (Am1836, 0303.1-2) and recorded as Late Quimbaya (AD 800-1600) tumbaga nose-ornaments. As Pre-Colombian nose-ornaments, they were also included in the exhibition catalogue “The Gold of Eldorado” (Bray 1978). However the British Museum Register states that the ornaments 1836, 0303.1-2 were found in Ireland and purchased from H.O. Cureton in 1836. The descriptions and dimensions recorded in the original object register match the two ornaments exactly leaving no doubt that they were found in Ireland. They were transferred (back) to the Prehistory and Europe department in November 2010.
