Jenkins to Townley, 29th May 1790: "...The only bronze I met with at Naples worth purchasing was as large patera of the deep dish form, the handle a figure of Isis. There is one of the same kind in the Museum at Portici. I shall get a drawing of it as soon as possible, but be so good in the meantime to let me know if you think you may like a monument of this kind, I shall not mention it to any other gentleman until I have the honor of your answer..." Jenkins to Townley, 19th June 1790 “...according to my promise the 29 of last month, inclosed is a sketch of the pattern I forgot to give directions for the dimentions being marked but it is of the large size, price of it five guineas. If it be not desired by you I beg you will be so kind as to show the drawing to Mr Knight who probably will be glad of it…[TY 7/ 501].
