Glass paste intaglio engraved with Eros kneeling before a flaming altar, burning a butterfly (see BM Cat. Gem 2837).
Pen and ink with grey wash and traces of graphite underdrawing on a sheet of paper, which is stuck down onto a second sheet watermarked 'J WHATMAN' together with 2010,5006.1324 - 1330; the assemblage framed in a graphite border.
