Glass paste intaglio engraved with Marsyas suspended by his hands from a tree, being flayed by a figure wearing trousers and Phrygian cap. Apollo stands behind him playing on a lyre, and a winged goddess holding torches stands in front (see BM Cat. Gem 2744).
Pen and ink with grey wash on a sheet of paper, which is stuck down onto a second sheet together with 2010,5006.1036 - 1038; the assemblage framed in a graphite border.
