- Description
-
Fragment of a plaque, perhaps originally rectangular, in translucent purple and opaque white cameo glass. The decoration, in white, shows the upper part of a young man with short hair facing left with his arms stretched out in front of him, and holding a pole in his right hand (only a small part of the pole survives). The man's posture suggests that he may have grasped it in his left hand too. His cloak, around his neck, may have flown out behind or fallen down his back. Behind and above his head, and possibly resting on his shoulder, is an object (perhaps a piece of furniture?), with spirally wound upper and lower borders, seperated by latticework or basketwork.
