- Description
-
Fragment of the frieze showing the Amazonomachy. The fingers of a left hand grasping a grip of a round shield. The forefinger and little finger are not so tightly clenched as the others; the tthumb (surface abraded) lies across the end of the forefinger. The grip is double and lacks attachments. The carving of the outside of the shield to the full width of this fragment suggests that the shield was held at a large angle to the background of the relief and emerged from it.
