Terracotta group of a butcher's scene. A figure of a young African boy, wearing a conical cap and tunic crouches over a rectangular basin in which a large pig lies. In its present state the boy appears to rest his hands on the pig's body, but may originally have been preparing the animal for slaughter. A large cockerel sits on the boy's back. The whole group rests on a large plinth.
