Rim sherd (mended from two fragments) of Chian Simple Animal Style pottery chalice or Type B1 kantharos; white slip; interior: reserved band at rim, glazed streaky dark brown below; traces of lotus flower in added white with traces of added red; below, trace of white band; exterior reserved; inscription on exterior.

- Curator's comments
- Chalice Style chalices (including patterned chalices) have little decoration on their interior and exterior. Given the size of the sherd, it may come from an undecorated part of the chalice.
Kantharoi Type B1 have lotus flowers and lotus buds on the interior above two white bands (Williams 1983, 169).
