Fragment of lid of Chian black-figured Sphinx and Lion Style pottery stemmed bowl with flange; white slip; interior: reserved; exterior: black-figure decoration consisting of part of two sphinxes to left (on left, underbelly and haunch of one sphinx; on right, chest, front leg and underbelly of the other; possibly with added red on haunch, shoulder and underbelly); incised rosettes as filling ornament; below, single band; short rays on top of rim, blobs on outside.

- Curator's comments
- Lemos places this sherd in Group A of the Sphinx and Lion Style. The decoration on the vases from this group is the most elaborate. The rosette has a standard cogwheel shape, the figures are carefully drawn and details are expertly incised.
