Curator's comments
The number 437 is written in pencil on the underside of the foot. The early patterned and Wild Goat Style chalices have a heavy and low conical foot. The foot is covered in a black slip on the exterior and reserved on the underside. The bowl, when attached, is coated in black slip with no decoration.
