- Curator's comments
- The spear-head broadly resembles Snodgrass's Type M in terms of size and proportions of blade and socket, though the difficulties of applying his classification to Cypriot material have long been (McDonald 1992). Of the numerous spearheads excavated in the Kouklia area in modern times, the closest is that Skales Tomb 42 though this is made of iron had has a more prominent midrib than the present example (Karageorghis 1983, Tombs 42 no. 4) as do the broadly comparable bronze examples (such as Tomb 43, no. 79, Tomb 77, nos 24 and 51 and the larger Tomb 69 no. 51A and Tomb 80). Karageorghis compares the spearhead in Tomb 43 to CG I-II examples from Amathus, though the midrib on his example is much more prominent.
