- Curator's comments
- This belongs to a category of travertine vessels assumed to be Egyptian but whose exact origin is uncertain because of their eclectic forms (Bevan's Type Es6, 'jar with stylised 'duck's head' lugs'). See Aston 1994 for an overview and catalogue of Egyptian stone vessels; also Bevan 2007, 134-43 for an overview of Egyptian stone vessels, together with a discussion of the cultural impact on Cyprus on pp. 152-153.
