Description
Mould-made pottery `Megarian' bowl decorated with the abduction of Persephone: Hermes precedes the chariot of Hades, which is pursued by Demeter, Athena, Hekate and Artemis. The entrance to the Underworld is marked with a grave stele inscribed "of the pious"; beyond this, Pan plays his pipes among the reeds while two Danaids attempt to fill their leaky pitchers.
