Description
Pottery amphora in Bichrome V wear, reconstructed from fragments, with painted Hathor head; ovoid body with wide cylindrical neck and rounded, everted rim; tall loop-handles rising from the middle of the body (mostly restored); buff slip with purple-black and white painted decoration and incised details arranged in horizontal registers: incised and painted lotus leaves on the bottom, above this on one side is a Hathor head framed by stylised trees flanked by bands of elaborate palmettes between the handles, on the other side are three bands of palmettes; above this are numerous bands of floral and abstract motifs, including a band of large rosettes around the neck; the rounded rim is decorated with a continuous chevron pattern.
