Pottery aryballos decorated in miniature with eighteen warriors, a hare-hunt and a horse-race. The warriors are locked in combat, thrusting their spears, jostling for position, or falling to the ground. Each warrior is armed with plumed helmet, spear and blazoned shield. Some are streaked with blood. The upper part of the vase takes the form of a lion's head, its mouth open to display rows of fearsome teeth and a red tongue.

- Curator's comments
- According to the publication in JHS 11 (1890), the aryballos was acquired by Macmillan at Thebes; the British Museum Register, however, has a handwritten note in the margin stating that the aryballos was bought by Macmillan ‘on the platform at Corinth station’.
