Description
Joined fragments of body of Clazomenian (related) black-figure painted pottery amphora (Knipovitch class). Forepart of winged horse. Purple and white alternately for feathers of wing. White dots for bridle and rein, on chest-strap, at base of feathers; white on ornaments hanging from chest-strap.

Curator's comments
BSA xlvii, 13 6-E III. 1. S. Weber attributes this to either the Knipovitch Class or the Temrijuk Group. Compare the motif of winged horses on the amphora in Athens 12713 (Cook-Dupont 1998, 103 n.12.5); compare with the fragment from Clazomenai, KLAZ-1980-T10 (Özer 2004, 204 n.7; 212 Cat. n.7)
