Large pottery barrel jug in White Painted/ Bichrome ware; wheel-made; elongated body terminating on each side in bosses with prominent nipples; tall cylindrical neck flaring to a thick chamfered rim; neck-ridge halfway up the height of the neck; thick strap handle from shoulder to neck ridge; buff-orange clay with cream-white slip decorated in black and purple paint: bull's eye motif with spirals on the bosses, broad and narrow bands around the body; large concentric circles below the handle on both sides, rings around the neck and rim with a single broader purple band below the rim, ladder pattern on the handle; parts of the surface have fired an orange colour, the rim is chipped, the slip and paint are cracked in places.

- Sce SCE IV/2, Fig. XIX & XXII for comparable examples. Though technically a Bichrome vase because of the added second colour, this is no different in shape or decoration to White Painted vessels of the same shape.
