- Curator's comments
- Attributed to Black-on-Red II (IV) by Gjerstad in SCE IV/2. For a survey of this genre of anthropomorphic vase, which may represent a deity, see Nys 1997. The anthropomorphic element may be related to figurines of mainly females but also male figurines on wall plaques, some of which were holders for lamps or incense burners (see J. and V. Karageorghis 2006, who also discuss the identity of the figurines which may be deities).
