Pottery: red-figured column-krater.
(a) Departure-scene. In the centre a youth with hair looped up behind with fillet and falling over ears, a petasos at back, a mantle over both arms, and two spears in left, grasps the hand of a bearded man wreathed with laurel and holding sceptre upright in left who is seated in a chair to left; he wears a long chiton and a bordered himation. Behind him stands a woman in a mourning attitude, her right hand supporting her chin, the elbow resting in the palm of her left hand; she wears a Doric chiton with apoptygma, a fillet, and a veil or mantle, passing over her shoulders and the back of her head. On the right stands a bearded man with long hair, wreathed with laurel, wearing an himation, who has a spear along his left arm, and raises his right hand in surprise or grief. On the left a youth stands looking on, wearing himation and fillet, and holding spear upright in his right hand.
(b) Three draped ephebi. One in centre moves to right, looking back and holding up on his left a cotyle; the other two rest right hand on a staff; each wears a fillet.
Late stage of large style. Purple fillets. Brown inner markings. On each side, pattern of dots; above tongue pattern. On neck and upper surface of lip, linked lotus-buds; on upper surface of handles, palmette. Round lip, double row of dots.
