Pottery: red-figured pelike.
(a) Dionysos and Ariadne seated, Satyr, Eros and Pan. In the centre Dionysos, a youthful figure wreathed with ivy, is seated on a mantle to left, leaning on his left elbow and holding a thyrsos upright in his right hand; he turns his head towards Ariadne, who is similarly seated behind him, in a mantle which covers only her legs, and a saccos. On her right arm outstretched, Eros, a full-grown boy, with wings raised, kneels on his right knee and extends both arms as if offering her a wreath, which is' not shown. In front of her a panther advances lowering its head as if about to lick her feet. On the left a Satyr advances with right hand on his hip, and on the right Pan, goat-legged, bearded and horned, sits on a rock, twirling aloft in his right a short knotted hunter's club.
(b) Three draped ephebi, two to right confronting one on right; on right a stele (?).
Late style. The flesh of Eros is white with yellow details on the red ground; his wings and hair are in the usual red-figure method. Inner markings in very fine black varnish lines. Below, above each side, and round lip, egg pattern. Beneath each handle, a double palmette.
