Pottery: red-figured oinochoe.
Design red on black ground, with white accessories.
Comic actor turned to front, with left leg crossed over right, partly bald, with white hair, moustache and beard; he wears a mask with eyebrows raised, thick nose and wide mouth, a short sleeved chiton with white fringe, bordered chlamys over left arm, from which hangs a long white tassel, and white sandals; in his left hand is a knotty stick, and he holds up two fingers of right hand. On the left is a kylix with a star painted inside; on the right a statue of Heracles in the lion's skin on a plinth painted white, turning to left, with right hand resting on his club. Above the actor is incised in Oscan characters: AITNAZ (retrograde?), (Ξ)αν(θ)ία[ς, Xanthias. On either side are tendrils.
