Marble monumental inscription; moulded frame; the stone is broken diagonally on the lower part, while part of the top right corner is also missing; rough at back and left side; smooth on right side; on top are three crampholes, presumably for supporting a statue; two large and one small channel lead to the back; seven lines of alphabetic Greek letters preserved (and traces of two more below), only the first four complete. The bloack was probably the base of, or related to, a statue of the Homeric hero Hector to whom the text refers ('the splendid protector of the Trojan land').
