Pottery: red-figured pelike.
(a) Nike offering wine to a warrior. On the left Nike, in a chiton with apoptygma tied, and a radiated stephane, stands holding up in her right a phiale which she has filled from an oinochoe hanging at her side in her left, and which is only partially seen; her long hair falls down her back. On the right stands a young warrior en face, but looking at Nike and extending his right hand for the phiale; his left foot is turned to the right; he wears a short chiton, a cuirass with a star on the shoulder, and a crestless helmet tilted back; in his left he carries a long spear and a shield with device in black silhouette of a scorpion to left.
(b) Bearded, draped man to left, his right resting on a staff.
Late stage of strong style. Brown inner markings and folds of warrior's chiton. Eye in transition type. Above and below a, groups of three maeanders set alternate ways, separated by dotted cross squares; above and below b, key pattern. On the lower insertion of each handle, a palmette inverted.
