Portfolio (1853,0307.190-3 & 1853,0307.720-89) consists of 73 unmounted drawings and prints. A label with 'GELL! DRAWINGS GROPIUS G+R' is pasted on the front cover.

Binyon catalogue states 'Packet containing about seventy views, mostly rough pencil sketches, a few watercolours, in Greece and Asia Minor. Nearly all of these appear to be Gropius, English Consul at Athens, but belong to Gell's Collection, and are therefore retained with his drawings.'
