Pottery: black-figured amphora. Accessories sparingly used. (a) Wrestling-match: An athlete to right is about to strike with his fist his opponent, who has fallen on right knee, and is looking back with left hand raised, as if appealing to a bearded figure behind, who stands to left, with right hand raised, holding a strap in left hand; all three are nude. On the left is a brabeus (adjudicator) to right, bearded, with large laurel-wreath on his head, himation with purple spots, in right hand a long forked stick or lygos. In the field a tree. This is probably a scene from the end of a pankration contest.
(b) In the centre, a nude athlete to right, bearded, in right hand a diskos, which he is about to hurl; facing him is a similar athlete; on left, a paidotribes (trainer) to right, as the brabeus in (a). In the field a tree.

- This seems to show the end of a contest in the pankration. The loser raises his right index finger to indicate submission, while the victor gets in a final blow.
