Pottery amphora of Panathenaic shape. Designs black on red panels, with borders of lotus along the foot; accessories of purple. On the neck, double honeysuckle. At the bottom of the handles are palmettes.
(a) Procession of deities: In front, Hermes advancing to right, bearded, with long hair looped up behind under a wreath, petasos, short chiton, embroidered chlamys, and endromides, playing with a plectrum on the lyre; his head is thrown back and his lips parted, as if singing; by his further side is a goat to right. Behind him is Heracles in a short chiton with the lion's skin over head and girt round the waist, at his back is his quiver with open lid in the form of a wing, at his left side a sword; he is playing on the double flute, and by his further side is a bull. Behind him is Iolaos, bearded, with ivy-wreath and embroidered chlamys. In the field are branches.
(b) The same design; Iolaos holds out a kylix for Heracles to drink from. On the stand is a frieze of five Seileni: two stand one on each side of a crater, the one on the left with white hair and beard playing on the double flute, the other with arms extended. Next on the right is a Seilenos dancing and playing on the lyre with a plectrum; the sides of the lyre terminate in swans' heads. The next one is running to left and looking back; he has an embroidered chlamys over left arm, and a crooked stick in right hand. The next is dancing to left, with left leg raised behind. All wear wreaths and are bearded.

Acquired together with the stand 1842,0407.14, but as the two pieces are by different painters and apparently not exactly contemporary they may not originally belong.
