Pottery: red-figured bell-krater.
(a) Triptolemos, Demeter and Core (or Persephone?). Triptolemos, a wreathed youth with long wavy hair and a mantle about his legs, is seated to right in the winged chariot, the seat of which has supports in the form of Ionic columns. In his left he holds upright a striated sceptre surmounted by a flower; in his right he holds out a phiale horizontally, from which a stream of wine descends. On the right Demeter stands en face, but looking at him, holding in her right an oinochoe from which wine flows, and in her left a sheaf of corn, both hanging at her side; she wears a Doric chiton schistos, fastened on the shoulders with long upright pins, and her hair is knotted behind with a fillet. On the left is Core (or Persephone), in long Ionic sleeved chiton and a mantle, with a broad fillet clasped over the forehead, and hair falling loose; her right hand rests on her hip, in her left she holds upright a sceptre like that of Triptolemos.
(b) Three athletes. The central one holds upright in his left a hurling-rod, and his right hand rests on his hip; the others move away on each side, looking back, and holding a jumping-weight (halter) in each hand; they wear fillets; the head of the central figure is restored.
Later stage of large style; elongated figures. Purple wine, corn, stem of wreaths, fillets. Brown inner markings. Eye in profile. Below each side, maeander; above, a moulding, on which is egg pattern, and the same around the handles. Around the lip, a myrtle-wreath.
