- Description
-
Core-formed glass amphoriskos.
Opaque light blue, opaque orange and wine-coloured trails, opaque brown body and handles.
Broad, inward-sloping rim-disc. Short, cylindrical neck, joining nearly horizontal shoulder in sharp, angular bend; ovoid body. Two vertical handles, round or oval in section dropped on shoulder, drawn up and folded inward to junction of rim and neck, upper ends attached to middle of neck. Upper ends of handles in curled back with depressions in their centres facing opposite ways. Base-knob, exceptionally, a small hemispherical button.
Unmarvered mingled light blue and orange trail round edge of lip. Marvered orange trail dropped on at shoulder and wound down, first in four straight revolutions, and then in zigzags, mingling with a light blue and a thin wine-coloured trail in a narrow panel; below, an independent threefold trail of orange with overlapping ends. No trail on base-button.
Formed on a core; rim-disc, handles and base-knob drawn on and tooled; trails drawn on, marvered (except on lip) and combed. Base-button probably formed by minimal pincering from body, rather than by coiling.
