Pottery: red-figured pelike.
(a) Two bearded men, each resting on a staff and standing en face, looking at each other; the one on the right wears a mantle covering both arms, and a fillet; beside him in the background is a diphros. The one on the left wears a cuirass, over which is a mantle, endromides, and a conical helmet. Between them, KAΛΟΣ ΔΙΩΕ (perhaps intended for κάλος Αίων, but the E is clear). Above, a cruciform object.
(b) A woman in a sleeved chiton, himation, and saccos, striding to right, holding out a blazing torch over a square altar, which has a double row of dots along the upper edge.
Drawing careless, but of the fine period. Purple inscription and flame of torch. Brown folds of chiton. Eye in profile. The figures in a are on a smaller scale than that in b. Below each design, a strip of herring-bone pattern; above, of egg pattern.
