Pottery: Paestan red-figured bell-krater.
Designs red on black ground, with white accessories. Above, laurel-wreath; below, wave-pattern; under the handles, palmettes.
(a) Dionysos to right, beardless, with long curls, ivy-wreath, and embroidered taenia, beaded shoulder-belt, bordered and embroidered himation over lower limbs, and shoes with white studs; right hand on hip, in left he holds up a tympanon. Facing him is Eros, wearing wreath, beaded shoulder-belt, bracelet on right arm, beaded circlet on left thigh, anklet on left leg, and shoes, holding a white taenia in both hands; above him hangs a wreath, and behind Dionysos is a taenia.
(b) Two youths conversing, with wreaths, and himatia over their left shoulders; the one on the left has a staff in right hand, and holds out a fruit or ball in left; the other has a taenia in right hand.
