- Description
-
Mould-made pottery lamp with a voluted angular-tipped nozzle and an inward-sloping moulded rim, interrupted by a channel pierced with an air-hole. On the discus are items of gladiatorial equipment: two pairs of greaves and two swords. A loop handle, now broken, is applied to the rear. The lamp stands on a narrow base-ring, with a raised point, perhaps a mould-mark, in the centre. Covered with an orange-red to dark brown slip.
