Wood lintel, carved in openwork, with high relief carving on one side, brown colour, varnished. In centre standing male figure, three-fingered right hand on belly, similar left hand on left hip; on each side of central figure two curving sinuous profile-headed figures, male and female, in coitus. Central figure and two male figures have haliotis-shell inlaid eyes. All figures decorated with curvilinear ornamentation based on spiral motif; linking elements of composition and enclosing border ornamented with motifs of parallel lines.
Back surface with adze marks and inscription "G Moana 92".

Wooden openwork lintel: thin, varnished. Central male figure flanked on each side by pair of manaia in coitus. Haliotis-shell eyes in central figure and two near manaia. Surface ornamentation of spirals, pakura and unaunahi. Engraved on back: ‘G. Moana 92’.
Provenance: Collected in the field.
Comments: Purchased from Te Warena Taua, Auckland; carved by Guy Moana in 1992. Contemporary art.
