Skirt (piupiu) of New Zealand flax (Phormium tenax), of multiple cylindrical
strands of natural greenish ecru, each with six bands of black; wider black band at top, above which there is fine finger-woven taniko waist-band with geometric designs in dyed black, brown and yellow, and white. Two plaited black tie cords at waist-band.
