This necklace of seeds of PLANCHONELLA COSATA (Maori name - TAWAPOU) is a facsimile of one in the Auckland Museum which was given by Sir George Grey, about 1864. As far as is known at present, the Grey necklace is the only known museum speciment of Maori origin in existence.
