Bark belt with relief carving covering most of the exterior surface as worn. The carving is infilled with white and dark brown pigment. The main area is coloured with red pigment. The carving includes two stylised faces.The ends are rounded. There are holes for tie cords - one pair has broken off fibre ends.

A large ethnographical collection from the Namau and Ipi tribes of the Purari delta and Elema regions, Papuan Gulf, made by J.H.Holmes (missionary) between 1893 and 1900. The remainder of the collection (about one third) is in the Liverpool Museum.
