Small mackeral-hooks and sardine-hooks of pearlshell were used for inshore fishing. (For types of Solomon Islands fish-hooks, see Kascho (1976) Uki Fishhooks).

There was no Rodin with the Melanesian Mission, but Rev. Leonard P. Robin was a missionary in Torres Islands 1890-1898 and Organising Secretary of the Melanesian Mission in England 1899-1905. The Mission sold artefacts from his collection to Harry Beasley in 1920, catalogued as Beasley 1139 to 1166 and 1206 to 1214, and in 1922, catalogued as Beasley 3086 to 3141, some of which came to the British Museum with Beasley's collection in 1944.
