- 1938 register: Description: 'Composite fish-hook, the shaft of pearl-shell, of nearly square section at base, but growing broader at the top, the barb of a yellowish-brown shell with very ... point, and two holes by which it is attached to the shank; the snood passed down the front of the shank.'
