1927.11-19.1. Length 181 cm.
Wooden ridgepole, tahuhu: male wheku figure with eyes almost parallel, large wide nose, crude pitau-series kowhaiwhai incised on cheeks, hands on chest, penis; wheku face below. Haliotis-shell eyes, spirals and rauponga on both figures. Takarangi spirals and manaia along sides, flat back.
Provenance: Reid/Capt. Luce Collection.
Comments: East Coast, 1860s. Strange, crude carving, not by well-trained carver: rough, poor spirals, very irregular pakati (RN).
