'One of the smaller cooking / pots and a spacimen of / Figean Pottery. The clay is / found a mile inland + / after being mixed with / a little of the fine emery / looking sand, it is formed into the pots by kneeding / and stuck against the reeded gable of a house / till they dry & fall off when / another kneeding takes place and then the form- / ing process with a con /vex stone in one hand inside and a concave / trowel hat [?] is applied on / the outside with great / patience & skill without any pattern or rule or callipers.
