Catalogue numbers 1255 to 1260 (1895-438 and 1895-864 to 868) were evidently reconstructed especially for Meinertzhagen, for Campbell writes in his Journal: ‘Arapu came over to see Fritz about some Maori Axes that he has been making handles for.’ (Campbell: 3 October 1869).
