As this object came from the collection of Earl Moutnorris of Arley Castle, it is likely it was collected by Frederick Bedwell, a midshipman on Phillip Parker King's voyages 1818-1821, who collected material for Mountnorris. After returning to England, Bedwell returned to live at Paterson, New South Wales.

Objects from Arley Castle were from the collections of George Annesley, Earl Mountnorris, who died in 1844. Frederick Bedwell, who worked on voyages of Captain P P King 1818-1821, was a collector for Mountnorris. See Simpson 2020.
