Fiji Islands
Ladle, polished cocoa-nut bowl. Red wood handle ornamented with cachalot tooth and fastened to an iron plate inside the bowl with copper pins.
Mr Hirt said it was for ladling out and drinking kava. [Added later] being passed from hand to hand ? about that. Ccava is generally served in a separate cup to each.

- Good, except for two missing pieces of ivory inlay and the copper pins are now a bluish colour.
