Adze made of nephrite, wood, flying fox fur, bamboo, sinnet. Tapered green jade blade having the front face convex, the back one flat and bevelled off at the cutting edge. Blade fitted to the front of a natural bend of a wood handle with cocoa nut sinnet; handle has a curve sideways and is ornamented with bands of a dark reddish woollen-like cord and some small strips of carved bamboo.

- Blade originates from the mainland of New Caledonia. Flying fox fur indicates its ceremonial status. 4857 with unusual bamboo strips. Information received from Francois Wadra and Jessica Wamytan, Melanesia Art Project, May 2008.
