Brooch made of silver, turquoise and coral, in form of a ten-legged insect with claw at the end of each leg, with a turquoise head and body, and articulated lower body, and coral attachments. Each stone is set in silver, the body and head stones have a proportion of brown matrix. The legs are stamped with rows of circles and to produce a rough effect at the sides. The tentacles have engraving on them, to produce lines. Maker's mark

- Platero does not sell directly, but prefers to work through a small number of dealers, particularly Anthony Whitman of Otowi Trading, who works from Santa Fe.

- This brooch was acquired on 21/8/2001 from a dealer, Anthony Whitman, whose trading company (Otowi trading Company) is located in Santa Fe, though the actual purchase was made in Nambe, outside Santa Fe. Whitman is one of the few dealers who carries work by McKee Platero.
