Sprayskirt (akuilisaq) for kayaking, made of dehaired harp seal skin, and sewn with synthetic thread. Front higher than back. Braces of green synthetic thread to hold up the sprayskirt. At the lower edge, skin is folded inward for casing for drawstrings, fastened with running stitch. Drawstrings of bearded seal (?) skin, fastened at the lower edge with a carved toggle and end piece of narwhal ivory (?), and additionally lashed with synthetic thread.

- Eth.Doc.[no.?]. This akuilisaq has been used by Maligiaq J.Padilla, chair of the kayak club in Sisimiut, and Greenlandic Kayak Champion. He used the akuilisaq both for competitions and for everyday paddling.
The akuilisaq was made by Maligiaq Padilla's mother, Mrs Juliane Padilla, together with Peter Johnsen, Juliane Padilla's father, who had been a kayak hunter, and who helped with preparing the skin and making the akuilisaq. The seal skin was bought in Qaqortoq.
