- Curator's comments
- The maker's mark suggests that the maker is Mary Ann Johnson (Navajo) who is recorded as living near Gallup. A visit to Bruce Burnham in Chambers, near Gallup, revealed that Mary Ann Johnson is still alive and making jewellery, and still using the pawn system. Mary Ann Johnson first used these initials in 1974.

- This ring was purchased from Anacita Star (Santo Domingo) who had a booth at the San Geronimo Feast Day celebrations in September 1998. She stated that she had originally purchased the ring in Shiprock, at the fair, and that she was
was now selling it on having worn it. She said that she purchased it in the 1970s.
