- Curator's comments
- The USS Constitution was launched in 1797, and survives in Boston - see web site for the Department of the Navy , Naval Historical Center, 805 Kidder Breese SE, Washington Navy Yard, Washington DC 20374-5060, USA. This suggests that the 'Constitution' was Pacific squadron flagship 1839-1841. Bill Holm in 'Faces Voices Dreams', p 153 suggests that another model by the same maker is in Florida State Museum (P-1269), and says that the carving styles of both bow figures is Tlingit.
