- Curator's comments
- JoAllyn Archambault suggests that this bag is of Sioux manufacture circa 1890. She mentions the unusual feature of heart symbols in the beaded panel. This remark is consistent with well-recorded evidence about Reservation period women's experimentation with elaborate designs in addition to traditional iconography that can also be seen in this piece.
