- Curator's comments
- Evelyn Vanderhoop:
Very old - all dyes indigenous. Forest green, always thought was copper oxide, also has blue/green both on same robe. Extremely finely woven - the finest wefts, very expertly woven. Black is really rich and consistent on the inner design. Border black seems to be from a different source. Side braids also very finely woven, no fringe, even width. They are sewn on using sinew - indication of pre-contact origin. The yellow band with small white circle is very unusual.
